Where are our true crim fans at?! (*Nat raises her hand hella high in the air!!!*). We are so excited to have Nancy Hixt on the podcast this week, the crime reporter at Global Calgary and host of Crime Beat, a true-crime podcast. Crime Beat was recently honoured by Apple Podcasts in several top lists including 2019 Favourites, Best True Crime Shows, 2019’s most popular new shows, 2019’s most popular shows overall in Canada, and we can attest, it is KILLER!!
Nancy has been reporting for more than 23 years, covering crime specifically since 1997 so she knows her stuff. She has a passion for telling stories others might be reluctant to tell and is best known for holding criminals accountable and knocking on a criminal’s door to ask them questions the victims can’t ask. She takes pride in giving a voice to people who may not otherwise be heard.
Nancy has covered some of the most high-profile crime cases in Alberta’s history, including the mass murder of five young students in Brentwood. Nancy was the first reporter on the scene of the Garland acreage, after the disappearance of five-year-old Nathan O’Brien and his grandparents, Alvin and Kathy Liknes. She also covers the trials that follow these horrific crimes.
We had some interesting questions for Nancy and some shocking answers that will keep you wanting more! Snuggling in babes, and let us know what you thought on our most recent post!
